Is it appropriate that I answer such questions with my own words based on my understanding of Scripture In many ways, that's the preferred method. Help us understand God's thoughts through your words.
By God's grace, Arnold
There is no excuse for any one in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. RH 12/20/1892

You do not mean that we are to "understand God's thoughts through your words," as asygo seems to be implying to be your meaning? Or have I misunderstood asygo? It isn't how I interpreted what you said, but you might want to make you point more clear.

Johann, am I correct in understanding that when you say "I answer such questions with my own words based on my understanding of Scripture." You do not mean that we are to "understand God's thoughts through your words," as asygo seems to be implying to be your meaning? Or have I misunderstood asygo? What I mean is that we should not just throw quotes back and forth to each other. We can all read the same verse and walk away with different things. Tell me what you think it's saying, then that gives me something to think about, maybe something I've never considered before.

Help us understand God's thoughts through your words." The way it was phrased, it appeared to me to be saying something different than what you meant.

Haste is a bad thing. How has God been communicating with you lately? I found that question from the quarterly very interesting. We talk about talking to God, but how do we practice it? Any takers?

The following question was asked today at Sabbath School:
What are the various ways in which God communicates with us? Here are a couple of Biblical examples: Through animals:*Balam's ass * Elijah fed by Raven, (communicated God's love and care for him by feeding him). Divine acts involving nature:*Gideon and the fleece.

We may communicate with God in a manner identical to the way Jesus did, through nature and the inspired writings. *Through the Scriptures we become acquainted with the Creator. *Angels are in some way actively working their special influence in some manner to strengthen, elevate, and refined, the human mind, and modify the character in some minute degree and we shall become more like our Saviour. *Nature is affective in altering our attitude and perception and our affections go out after God. *Prayer develops and strengthens the mental and moral faculties as we commune with God. *Cultivating thoughts upon spiritual things increases spiritual powers. To Jesus the significance of the word and the works of God unfolded gradually, as He was thinking, seeking to understand the reason of things, as any youth may seek to understand.
Every child may gain knowledge as Jesus did, from the works of nature and the pages of God's holy Word. As we try to become acquainted with our heavenly Father through His holy word, angels will come near, our minds will be strengthened, our character will be elevated and refined, and we shall become more like our Saviour. And as we behold the beauty and grandeur of the works of nature, our affections go out after God; while the heart is awed and the spirit subdued, the soul is invigorated by coming in contact with the infinite through His marvelous works. Communion with God through humble prayer, develops and strengthens the mental and moral faculties, and spiritual powers increase by cultivating thoughts upon spiritual things. pg. 39-40.
